About
ASODH, Action Solidarité pour le Développement Humain, is a non-profit association recognized as being of general interest, non-denominational, apolitical, which has been working since 1996 in Africa and the Middle East for the benefit of marginalized rural populations in great difficulty.
OUR HISTORY
Initially named “Solidarity and Rural Development” (SODERU), the association carried out initial projects in Iraqi Kurdistan, Benin, Madagascar, and Burkina Faso, focusing on assisting populations in dire need. The association then opened an office in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2002 following the eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano, with the same objective.
In 2014, SODERU became Action Solidarité pour le Développement Humain (ASODH) and strengthened its training, awareness-raising, educational support and social cohesion activities, being particularly involved in West Africa, Lebanon and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
OUR APPROACH
The DNA of the association has always been to support and finance local partners carrying out concrete, human-scale projects with visible and quantifiable results. We firmly believe that action at the local level and meeting partners on the ground are the ideal combination to bring the work of a humanitarian association to fruition.
L’association agit actuellement dans les régions suivantes
- West Africa : ASODH is involved in Ghana, Togo and Benin as part of projects related to the themes of WASH (Water Sanitation and Hygiene), the promotion of local cultures, and the reintegration of young people in difficulty (income-generating activities, prevention of radicalization). The association is particularly involved in supporting Fulani communities in the southern Sahel.
- Democratif Republic of Congo : ASODH is in contact with numerous historical partners working on the reintegration of minors (child soldiers, mine workers) through training activities, as well as on inter-community dialogue (organization of events, setting up of a local radio station) and environmental protection (fight against mining pollution).
- Lebanon: ASODH is committed to supporting the most vulnerable populations in the south of Lebanon, particularly through projects related to education, culture, psychosocial support and emergency reception of refugees and displaced populations.
